Isabell (Ginger)'s Story

Hey Gang. Who's out there after 35 years? OMG. This should be fun. Most of you remember me as Ginger Pollini. I have been going by my middle name "Isabell" since graduation. Man, things are going great. Life has been amazing. If you want to catch up or contemplate another reunion-type gathering I will "help" host something next year 2010. My "story after Eastside" ... 1979-1985 I started out at SFC and transferred to University of Florida. I had a great time at SFC and was one of there first cheerleaders for the college. SFC was a great experience as I began to gain focus and build a sense of hope about the future. I was in a couple plays at the Hippodrome and developed a love for acting (what a surprise:-) I transferred to UF Theater Arts Program and received a bachelors degree. After 3 great years of selling cokes at Gator Games and producing Gator Growls I was off to the big time! NYC here I come! 1985-1987 NYC...WOW! It was so adventuresome and exciting...can be a lil scary too, which is just a part of watching out for yourself. I arrived in NYC and dropped a photo in the mail. I was runner-up in an Eileen Ford Face-of-the 80's contest, so that was exciting only being in the city for a few months! I started taking acting classes in the village and waiting tables at night. Again, the grind but having a great time. Going out on acting auditions during the day and meeting interesting people. I waited on John Kennedy Jr and he asked me for my phone number. He was really sweet and we talked on the phone a few times but when I found out the rascal had a steady girlfriend, I decline a date. lol I was tired of spending what little money I was making on cabs; the lack of freedom and then Hollywood here I come! 1987-2003 Los Angeles was very exciting; it was the 80's! I began living in Malibu and waiting tables at a seafood restaurant with the most beautiful view of the waves crashing. My sister Laura was in L.A. as well and we had a good time exploring life. We soon moved to Venice beach and worked at a hot Dance Club downtown. Training and leading the life of an actress, I booked commercials, infomercials, guest-starred on TV series and had reoccurring roles on a soaps, played small parts in big movies and rubbed elbows with many wonderful people. I worked at many of the Grammy Awards as I was a personal assistant to the stars: Meryl Streep, Paul McCartney, Michael Bolton, etc... Instead of waitress I began to produce a weekly Dance Club with guests: Motley Crew, Peter Frampton, Rod Stewart, Guns-N-Roses, Poison (I lived across the street from Axel, see PHOTOS in 80's ALBUM BELOW). I produced live concerts as fundraisers for Teen Runaway Shelters. Life was big hair, Madonna (who I met 3 times, LOVE her!) and riding Harleys with Billy Idol and...Expand for more
Jillian Lennon on the weekends. Speaking of the 2009 Oscars: I once picked Sean Penn up hitch hiking on Sunset Blvd. I was on my motorcycle and I stop at a light and saw him with his thumb out. I pulled over and he hopped on the back. I took him to his house in Malibu and he invited me in to play a game of pool and have a beer. He and Madonna were divorcing and her stuff was in boxes everywhere. He was a total gentleman and I left him with a big hug after lunch. I waved and said hi when I saw him around after that. I really was rooting for Mickey Rourke to win the Oscar, I knew him better. We rode motorcycles together in a big group on weekends and drank beers at local dives. He invited me to be his acting "apprentice" on the film Wild Orchard but I did not have a passport to enter Brazil, so I lost out on that op. He has always been an underdog and that what's so human about him. He is a sweet man....fond memories there. Life was good and still trying to figure out what my life's purpose was. It was now 1990 and I met my husband who was an aspiring director-producer as I was getting my masters degree in psychology. We started a TV production Co and worked for lots of celebrity clients. We soon opened an office on a big film lot and started line-producing network TV shows: Blindate and America's Funniest Home Videos were our regular clients. My favorite moment of all was when Bill Clinton called to ask for use of our sound stage for a private photoshoot in Nov 2002. I married in 1989 and had our amazing son Nicholas in 1999. In 2003 we decided to live in Gainesville and commute to LA for work when need be. CULTURE-SHOCK! Gainesville was "normal" and more down to earth, a kid-friendly place to raise our son. 2003-present After the SHOCK of moving back slowly wore off I began to appreciate the beauty of a smaller town. My son was 3 years old and it was a good move for him. I continued to edit and produce TV commercials for Gainesville clients while still serving our Los Angeles clients. After a few years a personal shift happened when I became a single parent. Time to reinvent myself! I took out my masters degree in clinical psychology and stepped into a PhD program. I felt compelled to discover the answer to "why do long term relationships end?" I began to do research and to my surprise I developed a program to teach young people how to "choose well in love relationships." My relationship organization is called Drivers Ed for Love. I am creating a franchise model for others to teach this work all over the world. My website is DriversEdForLove (dot com) and check us out on facebook. Today (2013) I am a marriage and family therapist and just finished my PhD in Education. Life is fulfilling and thrilling. I wish you all well. Love, Isabell
